Therapy

Emotions such as anxiety, depression, stress, fatigue, anger and sadness are examples of things that can overwhelm us from time to time. But when these emotions and conditions interfere with everyday living – our family life, relationships, or work – we may need help. At times like these, Central Kansas Mental Health Center is ready to help.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy may also be known as “counseling.” Individual therapy is a collaborative time between a person receiving services and licensed mental health provider to talk through challenges and identify goals and steps to help you on your path to wellness. The range of problems includes minor disruptions in functioning to the more serious and long lasting problems in life. Any age and all levels of possible problems are welcome to request treatment. Youth must have their parent/guardian’s consent and participation for the best outcomes.

Family Therapy

Family counseling involves bringing several members of a family together with a counselor who will teach them how to better resolve conflicts, process traumatic events, and a variety of other issues. Family counseling can involve some or all members of a family, depending on each unique situation. It is an effective tool that can help improve communication and work through problems in a safe environment.

Couples Therapy

Couples counseling brings together a married, engaged, dating or partnered couple with a therapist who will provide you with tools to address and manage areas of conflict or dissatisfaction in your relationship. Your therapist will work collaboratively with the couple in a safe, caring and sensitive environment to determine a course of action designed to meet your unique needs with the ultimate goal being improved communication and conflict resolution.

Group Therapy

This is a therapy service led by a licensed mental health provider with a group of individuals with similar needs. Sharing and learning from other people is a proven method to help individuals recover from common behavioral health problems. Most groups have around 8 people.
